Western New England Students Attend National College Media Conference

On March 6-9, six Western New England University Student Media members attended the College Media Association’s Spring National Media Convention in New York City. The students that represented Western New England University were juniors Lori Bezanson, Vanessa Baptista, Sabrina Cristi, and Laura Grant, sophomore Kayleigh Thomas, and freshman Hailey MacDonald.

This convention is held for college media students from all around the country. Whether they represent their college’s student-run newspaper, magazine, yearbook, or art and literature publications, the purpose is for them to unite under their common passion for creativity, writing, and informing.

Student attendees ranged from New York Community Colleges, State Universities from Alabama, California and Tennessee, and even a group of students from a college in Hawaii. In addition to the vast range of students from all around the country, there were speakers, administrators and advisors from Oklahoma University, the University of Illinois, New York University and close to over one hundred other institutions.

This group of young women were inspired by student publications from around the country, and the information they learned will not only work to better the print medias of our University, but the experiences they had will follow them into their professional careers.
